Mortal Kombat on the Wii?

I creaked my own player but I'm not sure if you can actually use them for anything? I've looked in the game manual and it just informs about how to make a player and how to save them. I've saved the player to my profile. I'm wondering if I am able to use the player to fight against other players or anything. Thanks
