What would you suggest: the Army or the National Guard?

I'm starting my second year at Comm College and am going to a four-year university next fall. When that happens, I want to join ROTC but haven't decided which branch I really go in to. I'm not really worried about how much of my personal life it will take up (like how I COULD just work one weekend a month) but the actual benefits. I'd like to make my actual career in the military (such as military intelligence or lawyer). Also, if you go in through ROTC, you still go through basic training right?
