What Happens if you Violate Probation?

My husband went to jail for burglary and was there for about 3 months. When he got out he was put on probation and we were aloud to move out of state as long as he saw a probation officer out there. So we did he has NEVER checked in with the probation officer and the offense was in LA county. What will happen when they catch him? Also is there a way that they can see his record if he is out of CAlifornia?
